An example of a science fiction story that does a good job of showing the positive consequences of a new technology is the movie “Fantastic Four.” When the Fantastic Four get their super powers, they use technology to create suits that will match their super power. For example, the “Invisible Woman” has a suit that can disappear completely as she does so she may stay hidden from enemies. The “Human Torch” has a suit that will not burn when he turns to fire. This helps so he doesn’t burn off all his clothes every time he has to save the world.
The possible negative consequences also play a big role in science fiction stories. It makes the audience think cautiously about trying new technology. An example of a science fiction story that clearly defines the negative consequences of a new technology is “Iron Man.” When Tony Starks Iron Man suit falls into the wrong hands it causes major problems for him and the future of the world. Obadiah Stane steals Tony Starks suit and plans to destroy him then take over the world. This clearly shows the negative side to this technology falling into the wrong hands and it makes the audience think twice about trying out this new piece of technology.
